Pragmatic Play is the most-played slot provider in UK online casinos. It is also the provider where your choice of casino matters most.

Every Pragmatic Play slot ships with up to three RTP configurations. The casino picks which tier you get. The theoretical maximum — the number every review site quotes — is only what you receive if your casino deploys the top tier. Most UK casinos do not.

This guide ranks Pragmatic Play slots by the RTP you will actually encounter at UK-licensed casinos, not the number on the provider's spec sheet. Where a slot has verified deployment data at specific operators, we show it. Where we only have the theoretical tiers, we label them as such.

For background on how the tier system works, see our Pragmatic Play three-tier explainer. For the broader question of how and why UK casinos adjust slot returns, see our guide on whether casinos change RTP.

How Pragmatic Play's Three-Tier RTP System Works

Pragmatic Play provides most of its slots in three RTP configurations. The casino selects one when integrating the game. The player is never notified which tier is active — it can only be confirmed through the in-game help screen or paytable.

The three tiers typically follow this pattern:

Typical three-tier structure · cost per 1,000 spins at £1

    Top tier

    96.50%

    £35.00 loss / 1k spins

    Mid tier

    95.50%

    £45.00 loss / 1k spins

    Low tier

    94.50%

    £55.00 loss / 1k spins

The difference between top and low tier is 2 percentage points — or £20 per 1,000 spins at £1 stakes. Over a typical UK slot session of 128 spins (UKGC Q3 FY2025-26 data), that is approximately £2.56 per session.

Specific RTP values vary by title. Gates of Olympus uses 96.50% / 95.50% / 94.50%. Sweet Bonanza uses 96.48% / 95.46% / 91.50% — a much wider bottom tier that costs significantly more. Big Bass Bonanza uses 96.71% / 95.67% / 91.48%. Not all Pragmatic Play slots follow a uniform pattern.

After the Remote Gaming Duty increase from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026, a number of UK operators moved Pragmatic Play titles from top tier to mid or low tier. We documented this shift in our analysis of post-RGD Pragmatic Play RTP cuts.

The spread column is what matters. A slot with a 5-point spread costs you dramatically more at the wrong casino than a slot with a 0.5-point spread. When choosing between two Pragmatic Play titles, the one with the narrower spread is the safer pick regardless of which casino you play at.

Which UK Casinos Deploy Pragmatic Play at Top Tier?

Not every UK casino deploys Pragmatic Play at the same RTP tier. The table below shows our verified deployment data for the most-played Pragmatic Play titles at major UK operators.

Green: top tier (≥96%). Amber: mid tier (94–95.99%). Red: low tier (<94%). Dash: not verified.

Bet365 and LeoVegas consistently deploy Pragmatic Play at or near theoretical across the titles we have verified. After the April 2026 tax increase, some mid-market operators shifted to mid-tier configurations. See the full casino RTP rankings for context.

Pragmatic Play Slots to Avoid at Low-Tier Casinos

Some Pragmatic Play titles have a much wider RTP spread than others. At a casino deploying the low tier, these slots cost substantially more per session than their theoretical RTP suggests.

The titles with the widest verified UK deployment spreads are the ones where casino choice matters most. Sweet Bonanza (96.48% top vs 91.50% low — a 4.98pp gap) and Big Bass Bonanza (96.71% top vs 91.48% low — a 5.23pp gap) are the two most extreme examples in the current Pragmatic Play catalogue.

At £1 stakes over 1,000 spins, the Big Bass Bonanza spread costs £52.30 at the wrong casino. Over a year of weekly play (roughly 6,600 spins), that is approximately £345 in additional expected cost — for the same game, on the same device, with the same graphics and the same bonus rounds.

If you cannot verify which tier your casino runs, stick to Pragmatic Play titles with narrow spreads or titles from fixed-RTP providers like Eyecon and some Hacksaw Gaming releases. See our complete list of fixed-RTP slots for alternatives.

The Ante Bet Does Not Change Your RTP Tier

A persistent myth among UK players is that activating the Ante Bet on Pragmatic Play titles (available on Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and others) changes the deployed RTP. It does not.

The Ante Bet increases your stake by 25% in exchange for a higher probability of triggering the bonus round. The overall RTP remains mathematically identical — the expected return per pound wagered does not change. The Ante Bet redistributes where the return comes from (more from bonuses, less from base game), but the total is the same.

We verified this across every Pragmatic Play title with an Ante Bet option. The full analysis is in our Ante Bet myth debunk.

How to Check Which Tier Your Casino Uses

On any Pragmatic Play slot at a UK-licensed casino:

    1. Open the game. 2. Tap the "i" or menu icon (usually bottom-left or top-left). 3. Navigate to the paytable or game rules section. 4. Scroll to the bottom — the deployed RTP is stated there.

If the number matches the theoretical maximum listed in the table above, your casino runs the top tier. If it is lower, your casino has selected a reduced configuration. This is legal, UKGC-compliant, and more common than most players realise.

Our RTP Checker tool lets you search for any Pragmatic Play slot and see which UK casinos deploy which tier, without needing to open the game yourself.
