The 40% Remote Gaming Duty has been live for 17 days. Here is what the data shows so far.
The Remote Gaming Duty increased from 21% to 40% on 1 April 2026. The UK government's Office for Budget Responsibility projected that operators would pass around 90% of the duty increase through to consumers via reduced payouts. We have been tracking UK casino RTP deployments through the transition. Here is what the first 17 days of data show.
Fixed-RTP Providers: No Change
Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Push Gaming, Big Time Gaming, Relax Gaming, ELK Studios, and Thunderkick continue deploying at their fixed single configurations. No changes observed or expected — these providers do not offer operators the ability to reduce RTP.
Pragmatic Play: Mixed Picture
Pragmatic Play's three-tier system (typically 96.50/95.50/94.50) shows mixed deployment across UK casinos. Some operators maintain theoretical deployment on Pragmatic titles while others have moved to mid-tier. The split appears correlated with operator size — larger corporate groups (Flutter, Entain, Kindred brands) have been slower to reduce than smaller independent operators.
Gates of Olympus at Rizk Casino: verified at 96.50% (theoretical). Big Bass Bonanza 1000 at LeoVegas: verified at 94.51% (mid-tier). Big Bass Bonanza 1000 at Wildz: verified at 94.51% (mid-tier).
Play'n GO: Broader Reductions
Play'n GO's aggressive 5-tier system makes their slots the most vulnerable to operator-driven reductions. Book of Dead at LeoVegas: verified at 94.25% (second tier). Aspire Global casinos reportedly deploying Book of Dead at 87.25% (fourth tier). Bet365 Casino historically verified at 96.21% (theoretical) though this data predates April 2026 and needs re-verification.
NetEnt: Standard Reductions on Configurable Titles
Starburst at LeoVegas: verified at 94.05% (third tier of six available). Older fixed-RTP NetEnt titles (Gonzo's Quest at 95.97%, Dead or Alive 2 at 96.82%) remain unaffected as they predate the configurable programme.
What We Expect Next
Industry analysis projects UK average deployed RTP has shifted from approximately 96.0% pre-April to approximately 94.2% post-April. This aligns with operators moving from top-tier to mid-tier configurations on variable-RTP providers. Further reductions through Q2 and Q3 2026 are expected as smaller operators finalise their tax-response strategies.
We will continue tracking and publishing monthly updates. The operator watchlist tracks specific casinos where changes are detected. For individual slot RTP at your casino, check the in-game information screen before every session.
