Blueprint Gaming's Jackpot King progressive network is one of the most popular slot features in UK casino lobbies. It advertises a 0.49% jackpot contribution — 0.38% to active pots plus 0.11% to the reserve seed. The actual RTP gap between a standard Blueprint slot and its Jackpot King version tells a different story.
Fishin' Frenzy: a 2.80 point gap
Fishin' Frenzy runs at 96.12% in its standard version. Fishin' Frenzy Jackpot King runs at 93.32%. The gap is 2.80 percentage points. Blueprint's disclosed jackpot contribution accounts for 0.49 of those 2.80 points. The remaining 2.31 points — more than four-fifths of the cost — is additional house edge that never reaches the progressive pool.
The Goonies: the widest gap
The Goonies shows the widest gap. Standard version: 96.06%. Jackpot King version: 93.06%. A 3.00 percentage point reduction, of which 0.49 funds the jackpot and 2.51 is retained margin. At £1 per spin over 1,000 spins, playing The Goonies JPK costs £30 more than the standard version. Approximately £25 of that £30 never enters any prize pool. It is simply gone.
A consistent pattern across flagships
Ted follows the same pattern. Standard: 95.81%. JPK: 93.02%. Gap: 2.79 points. Eye of Horus: standard 96.31%, JPK 93.69%. Gap: 2.62 points. Wish Upon a Jackpot: standard 95.26%, JPK 92.83% at Rank Group brands. Gap: 2.43 points. Every one of the UK's most-played Blueprint titles carries a gap four to six times larger than the disclosed jackpot contribution.
The newer titles tell a different story
Not every JPK title is this aggressive. King Kong Cash shows a modest 0.78 point gap (standard 95.79%, JPK 95.01%). Bison Rising Megaways shows just 0.50 points. Rick and Morty Wubba Lubba Dub Dub: 0.65 points. Mighty Griffin Megaways: exactly 0.49 points — matching the disclosed contribution perfectly. The pattern suggests Blueprint widened the gap on its commercially strongest titles while keeping newer releases closer to the stated contribution.
The one title that does it right
One title does it right. Fishin' Frenzy The Big Catch Jackpot King uses a higher-contribution Deluxe model: 2.32% to the jackpot plus 0.68% to reserve, totalling 3.00%. The base RTP is preserved at 95.32%. The full RTP sacrifice is genuinely funding the progressive. This is arguably the fairest JPK configuration because the cost matches the disclosure. It is also the exception, not the rule.
£200 million paid — but at what cost?
The Jackpot King network has paid out roughly £200 million since 2016 and created over 30 millionaires, per Blueprint marketing figures. The largest single win was approximately £7.19 million on Deal or No Deal Megaways JPK at PokerStars Casino. These are real jackpots. But the cost of accessing them is significantly higher than the 0.49% contribution suggests.
Operator-level variance
Operator-level configuration adds another layer. Wish Upon a Jackpot King is reported at 92.83% at Rank Group brands but 95.83% elsewhere — a 3.00 point swing on the same title. Eye of Horus JPK appears at 93.03%, 93.20%, and 93.69% across different operators. Luck O' The Irish Gold Spins JPK ranges from 93.45% to 94.94%. The JPK tax varies not just by title but by which casino you play at.
You can usually opt out — but not always
Most major UK operators stock both the standard and JPK versions of flagship Blueprint titles. Value-conscious players can self-select out of the progressive cost by choosing the non-JPK version. But smaller, promotion-led brands often carry only the JPK version because the prize marketing drives sign-ups. At those casinos, there is no opt-out.
What the JPK label actually means
The Jackpot King brand sells a progressive upside. The data shows it is better understood as a lower-RTP version of the game that happens to include a progressive jackpot. The distinction matters because players who see Fishin' Frenzy in the lobby do not always know whether they are loading the 96.12% standard or the 93.32% JPK version. The progressive label is prominent. The RTP cost is buried in the rules panel.
