Evolution Owns NetEnt, Red Tiger, BTG, and Nolimit City. Should UK Players Worry?

UPDATE — April 2026: RTPTrack has completed a full investigation into Evolution's impact on each acquired studio's RTP practices. The findings are now published: BTG's single-build policy is confirmed dead for new titles from February 2024. Nolimit City's tier floor has dropped to 84%. NetEnt's floor reached 88% on new titles. Read the full investigation: What Evolution Did to UK Slots: The Full Investigation.

Between 2019 and 2022, Evolution Gaming acquired four of the most important slot studios in the UK market: Red Tiger Gaming, NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, and Nolimit City. Add Ezugi for live casino and DigiWheel for game shows. Evolution now controls the provider of the UK's most popular slot (Starburst), the inventor of Megaways (BTG), the extreme-volatility leader (Nolimit City), and the largest UK-focused slot studio (Red Tiger).

What this means for RTP today

Each acquired studio currently maintains its own tier system. NetEnt has 8 tiers (88-99%). Red Tiger has 4-6 tiers. BTG ships legacy titles single-build but new releases from February 2024 onward use 2-3 operator-configurable tiers reaching as low as 86%. Nolimit City has 4-5 tiers on flagship sequels spanning 84-96%. The question is whether Evolution will unify these into a single tier architecture.

    The worst-case scenario

Evolution adopts Red Tiger's 6-tier model across all studios, including the BTG legacy catalogue. This would end BTG's single-build policy on classics — the last guarantee of honest RTP marketing on the BTG flagships. Bonanza, Kingmaker, and White Rabbit could become variable. UK players would lose the only major-studio legacy catalogue where "the RTP you see is the RTP you get." The reversal has already happened on new BTG IP from February 2024 onward; the legacy catalogue is the remaining single-build territory.

    The current evidence

As of April 2026, BTG's legacy catalogue (Bonanza, Extra Chilli, White Rabbit, Kingmaker, Millionaire Megaways) retains single-build deployment. However, every BTG release from February 2024 onward — Panda Money, Boo, Burgers, Danger! High Voltage 2, TapCards — has shipped with operator-configurable tiers, with TapCards openly marketed at 'flexible RTP ranges from 86.46% to 96.45%'. The single-build philosophy is dead on new IP. NetEnt's variable-tier system launched before the Evolution acquisition (December 2019 pilot) but expanded dramatically under Evolution ownership.

    The competitive concern

With four major studios under one roof, UK operators have less negotiating leverage on deployment terms. If an operator wants NetEnt games, they are negotiating with Evolution. If they also want Red Tiger and BTG, they are negotiating with the same company. Bundled distribution deals could reduce operator flexibility to deploy at higher tiers by tying access to margin commitments. See how acquisitions change deployed RTP for the historical pattern.

    What RTPTrack monitors

We track each Evolution studio's tier system independently. If BTG titles appear with variable tiers, we will document it immediately. If Red Tiger's spread widens, we will flag it. The consolidation makes per-studio monitoring more important, not less. The provider tier guide is updated as evidence emerges.
